Overview

The Yari valley trek is famous for its isolation under the restricted territory with beautiful flora and fauna. Remote wilderness Yari valley trekking is situated in the Karnali region, the far western part of Nepal.

An amazing Yari valley trek route is a very dry and undercover area. People have very difficulty living here because of less productive lands. But they are very humble and have friendly smiling faces. Walk through the ancient salt trading and pilgrimage route up to the Tibetan crossing the Nara La pass (4,620m) with a stunning vista of the Himalayas. From the Hilsa border, you turn to the Yari Valley.

Furthermore, Hilsa is a gateway to exploring Mount Kailash which is located in Tibet. Visitor can experience the ancient Buddhist Monasteries, local people, and their traditions which are the main attraction of the Yari valley. Local inhabitants still earn their livelihood by trading commodities like salt, cotton, barley, and rice in Tibet.

Simikot, the administrative headquarters of the Humla area. Unassuming community is just reachable from different spots in Nepal via air (or by walking!) yet it is associated by street to Tibet. Trek to Yari is delightful, going through plantations, fields of yields (like grain, millet, and wheat), and a lofty gorge. Just the Sarpa La isolates Yari from Tibet.

Be that as it may, it has a a diverse range of flora, including alpine meadows, pine forests, juniper shrubs, and medicinal herbs like yarsagumba. As for wildlife, trekkers may encounter Himalayan blue sheep, marmots, musk deer, and, with luck, even the elusive snow leopard, along with various species of birds such as Himalayan monals and griffon vultures.

For individual/solo travelers hiking the Yari valley in Humla is not possible as we need a minimum of 2 tourists to make group trek permits. Humla Simikot and Yari region are under the control region and required a special permit from the government of Nepal. However, Yari valley at Humla trekking is possible to visit at any time except winter months in Nepal.
