Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, a journey that takes approximately one hour. Located 8 kilometers from the city center, Nepalgunj Airport serves as a key domestic hub in the Banke district. Notably, Nepalgunj is a well developed city and a thriving business center in western Nepal.
In the morning, Nepalgunj to Jhupal flight, takes roughly about 35 to 40 minutes. As soon as you reach Juphal, shopping and other entire things managements. Setting up everything, we begin our short hike to Dunai.
We walk straight forward along the riverside through some clusters of settlements. Today we have an easy excursion day so we will have roughly about 4 hours only.
Tarakot is a typical authentic village, the people have their own culture and traditions. Local people here around speak a local dialect ‘Kaike’, which is spoken only in some clusters of this village and is not understood by the people from any other villages. Villagers strictly follow their own social norms. Walk further to Mushi Khola where we stay overnights.
It’s interesting to congregate the diverse social lifestyles and the hardness of the people, the trail leads you to Kakkot village for the night stop. Since the route is not common, it is still untouched and diverse in culture. Although, you can enjoy the fascinating views of mount Dhaulagiri. On top of that, you can enjoy the gorgeous view of Putha Hiuchuli and as well as Dhaulagiri massif.
Today’s trek involves several ascents and descents along the riverbank. This route features sparse vegetation, with only a few scattered bushes, as Dolpa primarily showcases desert like landscapes. Along the way, you’ll pass through a small village that is home to a charming monastery.
The trek follows a moderately uphill path, with some sections being relatively flat. It has well suited for mules and horses, ensuring easier navigation. However, trekkers should carry sufficient water, as there are no water sources along the route.
Mukot is a nice village, which is one of the hidden valleys of Dolpo section. As the village is tiny, very few people have seen this village.
Trek goes further walking over the treeless areas to Yak Kharka village which takes about 5 hours. Along the journey, you can see the great view of the Dhaulagiri Mountains.
After enjoying the best Dhaulagiri Himalayan scenery, you can proceed to Mula pass located around 18,312 feet above sea level. As it is a high pass trek today, it’s a tough day but I am sure that you can enjoy it with nature always. After crossing the pass you will have a night stop at a high pass camp at an elevation of 16,308 feet above sea level.
Another most exciting day today is because of tough hike to cross over two passes. After a strenuous trek along the passes finally, you come to stop for the day at Ghaldang Ghuldung.
The trail goes through barren landscapes with slop hills. Water is not always possible.
Today, we have a rest day at hidden valley to explore different mountains like Dhaulagiri, Dhampus, and several small snow covered peaks.
Along the hiking trail, there is a Dhampus Peak. So if you are interested or if you have a peak climbing permit, you can climb.
Today’s trek leads us to Yak Kharka, where we will spend the night. It begins with a challenging section, requiring extra caution for the first 15 to 20 minutes. Notably, this part of the path is carved into a sloping hillside, adding to its difficulty.
Marpha is a famous place for apple garden and apple brandy. Marpha is a settlement of the Thakali community who have been living in Mustang for ages. On Marpha village’s top hill, there is a Monastery from where Travelers can view the village and the Gandaki River valley, and the Kali Gandaki corridor. Just above the monastery is a Chorten painted onto the cliff face and a number of small stone chortens on the ledges below. Marpha village is good to have a day hiking tour but as it has a roadway it is not a good idea to trek because of the dust.
Your return journey from Marpha to Pokhara by private 4WD jeep takes approximately 8 hours, depending on road conditions and weather. It follows the rugged and scenic Annapurna region, passing through Majestic Rupse waterfall, Tatopani, and Beni, that provides a stunning views of the Kali Gandaki Gorge and surrounding Himalayan landscapes.
While the road is mostly blacktop, a private jeep ensures a more comfortable and flexible travel experience compared to public transport. Along the way, travelers can stop at hot springs in Tatopani or picturesque villages, making the journey both scenic and enjoyable. The trip is finished and we wish you a wonderful journey back home.

Dolpo to Jomsom Trek Review
Best company, professional guides, best experience.
My husband and I trekked to the amazing Langtang Gosainkunda scenic trek in October 2016 with Umesh our guide through Gokyo Treks and Expedition. Ammar organized everything for us with perfection. We stayed at Ammar’s home after arriving in Kathmandu. What a nice welcoming. We had an amazing time with our Trek guide Umesh who has almost 20 years of experience trekking all over the Himalayas in Nepal.
We had such an amazing trip. Pictures can not give back the natural beauty of the Himalayas. It was amazing to be in nature far away from civilization. The trekking was hard but it was well worth the effort when we reached the amazing Langtang Himalayas. All the villages had simple tea houses and plentiful food options.
I can not recommend enough Goyko Treks and Expeditions. Trip of the lifetime !!
Thank you very much, Ammar and Umesh for the amazing experience!

Response from Gokyo Treks Nepal
Thank you Esther for your time to review Langtang valley with Gosaikunda Lakes trek with our team. Hope to hear from you for your next trip in Nepal.
Couldn't have dreamt of better!
My husband and I set our eyes on Gokyo Treks back in March when we were deciding what company would be best for us. And we couldn’t be more satisfied, we arranged for an 18-day trek with Everest Base Camp trek while visiting a Gokyo first, followed by a 3 night Chitwan Jungle Safari in October of 2016. Everything was amazing, simply put.
We stayed with Ammar and his family while we were in Kathmandu and they really treated us as friends and family. We could really feel Ammar’s generosity and warm heart.
Our guide Ram was incredible as well! We really felt a strong connection with him by the end of our trek. He knew English really well and definitely knew everything about where we were and about the Himalayan culture on our trek. What I thought was an exceptional job on his part was when I got sick when we were in Gokyo, we wanted to see if there was another route we could take that was just as scenic, just not to base camp, and he sat us down with a map and showed us where all we could go for the rest of our trek. We were left not having a single regret and not feeling like we missed out on base camp. Especially since we did make it to Gokyo!
Our Chitwan trip was the perfect way to relax after our long trek, Ammar booked us the Chitwan Village Resort and it was nothing short of amazing!
On our bus trip back from Chitwan, I somehow managed to forget our camera on the bus and didn’t realize it till an hour or so later, feeling defeated and terrible, Ammar was quick to call the bus company and they said they found it! So Ammar and his kind heart walked my husband down to the bus station at 6 am the next morning to retrieve it. I don’t think we would be able to get our camera back without him! I couldn’t imagine a more ideal way to visit another country. – Kandice Derby
Hello, I’m Patrick, Kandice’s husband. Prior to our arrival in this Nepal I didn’t quite know what to expect other than trekking followed by relaxation. When we arrived we were greeted by Ram and taken to Ammar’s home, after we formally met and he showed us around we settled in and caught up on some much-needed rest. The following day he took time out to address and questions or concerns, and that evening we met our guide to be and had ample time to get to know him.
The trip in its entirety was exceptional just as Kandice described, with our guide and Ammar taking time out for us whenever we felt we required something or anything further. The hospitality, in my opinion, is unmatched as Ammar and his entire family are very kind and forthcoming, I cannot recommend anyone else as I cannot vouch for their services. If you do just so happen to choose GT you will not be disappointed, the staff here even showed us around a busier part of the city where the market resides and even lent us a personal cellphone if we became lost, that’s unheard of!
If you have any other questions about the company or our experience please feel free to contact me at eight one six six five one zero four six zero. Thank you

Thank you Patrick and Kandice for your amazing review
The best Annapurna Circuit Trek
This past May (2016) I completed the Annapurna Circuit in 15 days, largely thanks to the guiding services provided by Gokyo Treks and Expedition. At the start of my trip, I had planned to hike Manaslu but due to an illness with my trekking partner, I had to change plans last minute. Fortunately, Ammar (owner of Gokyo) was able to help me and provide info, which ultimately led to me choosing Annapurna. During my 2 days in Kathmandu, Ammar and his family also provided a very nice and convenient homestay while helping me prepare for my trek (buying jackets, etc.).
The trek itself was everything I had imagined and more – my guide, Kamal (KC) was helpful and knowledgeable. He knew the best routes to take and provided me assurance, help, and motivation when necessary (i.e. when I had some stomach issues). KC was also more than just a guide – by the end, he became a friend. He’s somebody I felt very comfortable around, and kept things interesting. I’d highly recommend not only Gokyo Treks but also KC as a guide. Additionally, the prices offered by Gokyo were the best I could find when compared to several other agencies. Finally, the services Gokyo provides to the community (schools, tutoring, etc) made it a no-brainer to choose them. Hopefully, this review will help others make their decision – having an experienced guide made everything so much easier (knowing what lodging, food places, etc.)

Short tour in Bhutan
We booked a Bhutan tour with Gokyo Treks Agency. Our Guide Miss Geeta a local representative organized our 4 days glimpse of the Bhutan Tour in an excellent way. Our cook Sonam and his entire kitchen staffs were just friendly and friendly staff is highly appreciated. Miss you all, will definitely explore more Bhutan tours with your awesome team. Thank you for giving us memorable hospitality in Bhutan.
