| |
Muktinath is the holiest shrine existing in Nepal. Even one sight of Lord Muktinath is capable of engendering both terrestrial and celestial joy.
Muktinath temple is situated at the distance of 18 kilometers from Jomsom, the district headquarter of the renowned tourist destination Mustang. Located at the altitude of 3,749 meters, Muktinath shrine is pagoda shaped temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Behind the temple, there are 108 waterspouts, which are even known as Mukti Dhara. As the temple stands atop the hill, itinerary to Muktinath can be undertaken, either by helicopter or on foot, in the favorable season and weather only. The importance of this trekking: Pilgrimage is said to be incomplete if one misses to visit Mukti Nath, one among the eight celestial places on the earth. Revered deity of both Hindus and Buddhest devotees, Muktinath carries equal importance to both of the religions. In the proximity, there is another temple of Mother Jwala (Goddess of Flame), which is known particularly for the miraculous flame of burning fire inside water. This land is also known for the availability of the idol of much talked-upon deity Shalagram. |
